Mind - the ultimate cause of the human Bondage and Liberation
The Mind - Bondage and Liberation
The extra-ordinary portion of a human body is the Mind, which evaluates sorrow and anxiety. We can term it as the instrument of the inner-self. It is not easy for one to assess his own mind let aone that of others. The mind is the real asset that master other sense organs.
The mind decides our discrimination, worldly life, desires, pleasure or pains. This is what pushes towards a bondage or liberates us from the clutches of earthly attachment.
Quoting the characters from the two Great epics of Our Country, the Ramayana and Mahabharatha, We can distinguish the exhibiting the attachment and standing off from the sources. Ravana exposed his arrogance while Shri Rama portrayed equanimous. Yudhistra's self-sacrificing character stood tall compared to Duryodhana's selfish nature. These two examples drives us to accept the fact that our minds determine the demon or divine nature within. The mind is capable of immersing in the sea of earthly pleasures but capable of rescuing us from it. Towards which of these two we pulled upon depends on our mind.
A fickle, turbulent, stubborn or strong mind should be disciplined and channelised towards right path by spiritual practices, eating satwik food and following right path of life against the wrong. When this is not done, our mind will become a formiddable opponent. Mischievous, Iindustrious (interference), Notorious (negative) and Dangerous constitute MIND when it is uncultured, unspiritualised and remain uneducated. This transforms into Moral, Introvert, Noble, and Divine - MIND when properly refined spiritualy and trained.
There are humpty number of teachings in the Vedas and Upanishads that purify our minds and bring divinity to our lives.
Faith, Focus, and Controlling the senses are three means that gives everlasting peace and happiness in life.
Faith in the Guru and his teachings gives knowledge to an ardent follower.
Focus at one thing at a time as instructed by the Guru or teach with intent faith without getting involved in irrelevent activities will complete success.
Controlling the senses by staying away from destructive behaviour and misconduct elevates the person to gain peace and contentment.
Following what has been mentioned above will fascilitate one to have a control over his mind and helps him to focus and achieve higher goals and finally take to the path of renunciation.
